Day 1: Cusco – Humantay – Soraypampa:

4:30 in the morning Pick up from the Hotel, we will start our way by Tourist bus passing through high Andean towns, at approximately 9 a.m. We will arrive at Mollepata where we will have a delicious Breakfast. From this point we will start our adventure until we reach Tres Cruces, where we will have lunch with a spectacular view of the Limatambo Valley. After this, we will clim to the impousing Humantay Lagoon where we can see the Apus Salkantay and Humantay at approximately 16:30 p.m. Finally, we will arrive at Soraypampa, (3500 masl or 20.671feet), where we will camp.

Day 2: Soraypampa – Chaullay

Very early in the morning we will leave our camp, after a fortifying breakfast with direction to the snowy Salkantay (4,620 m.a.s.l) which is the highest point of the whole route for approximately 4 hours we will ascend this first step where we will have a short break to be able of walking. Take the breathtaking views that will be appreciated from this point. During the journey we will find several mounds of stones called Apachetas. Then we will descend for approximately 2 hours to Wayracmachay where we will have lunch and then we will continue walking for 3 hours aprox. until we reach Chaullay where our second camp is located. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chaullay – Santa Teresa:

After our breakfast we left Chaullay at 7:00 am. approx. to continue with our walk towards Collcapampa where we will pass through narrow paths with abundant flora typical of the area such as the different types of orchids and waterfalls that will be seen during the whole journey. After 5 hours of walking we will finally arrive at Sawayaco, also called the beach where we will have lunch and then we will take a car to Santa Teresa, located at 1,645 meters above sea level, for approximately 45 minutes we will be in Santa Teresa around 3.00 pm where we will settle. After a short rest we will go to the medicinal baths (not included) to relax to finally overnight in Santa Teresa.


At 8:00 am. Approx. In the morning after having our breakfast, we will go by walking thorugh the ancient Santa Teresa Town for approximately 2 hours until arriving at Hidroelectric, after arriving at Hidroelectric we will continue walking until we reach Aguas Calientes. Arriving at Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch and we will settle in the lodging and we will coordinate the ascent of the following day to the city of Machu Picchu.


Very early in the morning (5:30 am) we will take our breakfast to transport us in the first bus that will take us to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu for approximately 30 minutes. Then we will have our guided tour for approximately 2 hours where the guide will take us to the most important places of the citadel, after our visit we will have the rest of the hours free to take pictures and tour by our account in Machu Picchu (time It depends a lot on the train schedule given since it has to be half an hour before the departure of your train in the station), the other option is to go up Huayna Picchu or Mountain (not included) to appreciate the impressive view of the whole citadel. Finally we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes and then go to the station and wait for our train that will take us back to the town of Ollantaytambo and then by bus to Cusco where we will be approximately at 10:30 PM.       Is there an age limit to hike Salkantay Trek?

      Can I make Salkantay Trek without a guide?

      Yes, you can do without problems, as it is not yet regulated by the Peruvian government, if you are encouraged to carry out this adventure without a guide. Keep in mind respect the regulations of how to use the road, to conserve the environment and that the government does not set standards. , to charge the entrance, as happens with the classic road. To go without a guide, you must inform yourself the bus departure times, from Avenida Arcopata, the cost is minimum of S/12 PEN, either combis and public service bus. Arriving in Mollepata you can take a muleteer so you can bring your backpacks. You should know that there are no restaurants from the first camping so you must take your food for four days.

      What happens if I’m slow?
